About 300,000 Ultra Orthodox Jews participated the day-long holy Jewish holiday at the grave site of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai in the northern Israeli village of Meron, 02 May 2010. Lag Baomer commemorates Bar Yochai's death. Bar Yochai was a great scholar and one of the most important sages in Jewish history some 1800 years ago. Hundreds of thousands Jews light large bonfires all night long and visit his resting place in Meron.
